Innovation Showcase 2017

Entrepreneurs, investors, start-up enthusiasts, faculty, students, economic development leaders, or anyone interested in the availability of new technologies and the growing local start up community are invited to attend.

Admission to the Innovation showcase and all science 2017 events is free and open to the public, but registration is required.

Opening Events

Michael G. Wells Entrepreneurial Scholars Lecture
Wednesday, 18 October
4:00 to 4:45 p.m.
Alumni Hall, Science Lecture Hall, 3rd Floor

Attend a presentation illuminating the path to success in entrepreneurship.  Kurt M. Rote is Co-Founder and CEO of Pitt spinout, Western Oncolytics, an oncolytic virus immunotherapy company that partnered with Pfizer with co-develop its lead therapy.  Kurt will share his story and advice on finding and developing a viable business, particularly from early stage technology developed initially as University research.

Earlier in the day, Pitt students will compete as they pitch their innovations to judges from the local business community. Here, the winners of both competitions will be announced.

Join the University of Pittsburgh Innovation Institute for a first look at the latest Pitt-generated innovations in health care, materials, Internet of things, information technology, analytics, energy, and more. Many of these technologies are available for licensing, and others already form the basis of local, early-stage Pitt spinoff companies.
