The University of Pittsburgh Innovation Institute will celebrate the Pitt faculty, students, and staff who are working to make their ideas and research discoveries have a real world impact at the annual Celebration of Innovation.

Hors d'oeuvres and drinks will be provided.

5-6 p.m. :  Hors d'oeuvres, Networking, and an Innovation Showcase
6-6:30 p.m. :  Awards Ceremony for the following:

  • Emerging Innovator
  • Student Innovator of the Year
  • James “Chip” Hanlon Volunteer Mentor
  • Startup of the Year
  • Business of the Year: $1MM +
  • Small Business of the Year:  <$1M
  • Marlin Mickle Outstanding Innovator

We will select a Pitt faculty member to receive the Marlin Mickle Outstanding Innovator Award. This award is in recognition of a Pitt Innovator who has demonstrated consistent dedication to achieving societal impact through commercial application of his or her research.

We will also present the Chip Hanlon Volunteer Mentor of the Year Award to recognize the invaluable contributions that volunteer mentors provide to faculty and student innovators.

To celebrate student entrepreneurship across the entire University, a Student Innovator award will be given to student teams who exemplify the passion that Pitt students possess to bring their entrepreneurial dreams to life.

In addition to recognizing Pitt faculty and students and regional entrepreneurs who have achieved a major innovation milestone, such as submitting an invention disclosure, obtaining a patent, or launching a startup company, the Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship will present two special business awards:

  • Business of the Year: $1MM +
  • Small Business of the Year:  <$1M

Directions to the Campus View Club, Petersen Events Center:

  • If guests enter Concourse B off of Allequippa Street, they will take the escalator down one level, across the food court and up another escalator to the club level.  The club will be on their right.
  • If guests enter the main lobby off of Terrace Street, they will take the single escalator up two levels to the club level.  The club will be on their right.
  • An ADA cutout drop off is placed in the front of the building off of Terrace St. When entering from the lobby entrance off of Terrace St, guests can proceed straight to the back wall where there is an elevator on the left-hand side. Proceed to level CF where Campus View Club will be directly outside the elevator on the right.
