The Pitt Ventures’ Innovation Igniter engages university faculty, staff, and students in experiential learning to advance innovations and innovative concepts along the commercialization path while providing a real world introduction to entrepreneurship.
As part of this experiential learning workshop, the University of Pittsburgh’s Innovation Institute provides you with an introduction to the Business Model Canvas (BMC), helps you discover the value your innovation may offer customers, who those customers are and where you might find them.

The Innovation Igniter program is designed to help participants get introduced to the commercialization process and path to licensing their innovation or creating a startup company.
The Innovation Igniter is a prerequisite to the Innovation Institute’s NSF I-Corps First Gear commercialization program for Pitt.
The two-hour workshop is a lighter commitment than other Innovation Institute programs and serves as a way for participants to discover their entrepreneurial skills before making a bigger commitment.
Don't have an idea or invention? No problem!
Participants are encouraged to participate whether they have an idea, invention, or are simply curious about the commercialization process.
