Blast Furnace Demo Day is where the student teams pitch their idea to a panel of VIP's from Pittsburgh’s local startup scene and take their best shot at winning the coveted Blast Furnace Cup.

Demo Day is always a celebration!  This cohort we will be celebrating the student teams and their 8-10 weeks of hard work within the Blast Furnace, Pitt’s student accelerator. The students will pitch on stage and demo their ideas to an audience of VIPs from Pittsburgh’s startup scene.

Investors, partners, future applicants, students, staff, faculty, and anyone with an interest in entrepreneurship are encouraged to attend Demo Day and meet the cohort to experience the energy and breadth of ideas put forward by Pitt students.

  • You will be able to receive OCC credit for Career Preparation
  • Mix and mingle with the startup community
  • Cheer on your favorite student entrepreneurial team with Roc the Panther!!
  • See who will walk away with the Blast Furnace first-place $2500 prize and big check!
  • Our guest speaker this year is Barry Rabkin, Chief Marketing Officer, Identified Technologies

    • Barry Rabkin has over a decade of success founding, growing, and selling technology companies. He has led the research, development, and marketing of over 100 successful digital and physical products. Today, Barry serves as Chief Marketing Officer of Identified Technologies, President of Hackers & Founders - Pittsburgh Chapter, Guest Lecturer at the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University, and Strategist at Barry Brands Consulting.  He is on a mission is to transform Pittsburgh from the "City of Steel" to the "City of Startups"
